FACILITIES

We have several areas which can be booked for different sized events. Below you will find a grid for a quick overview, and then below a description of each location. The Jardines Garden Patio is our main wedding area, and is ideal for ceremony and reception for 85 to 150 guests, but can handle up to 250 if your ceremony is at the mission or another church.
You are always welcome to come and dine and stroll around on your own any time the restaurant is open, to explore and get a feel for the space and the layout. But to ensure we have an event specialist available to answer questions, it is always good to make an appointment. Above grid outlines how many people fit in each event space, all food, buffets and menus are decided individually as our most popular wedding buffet isn't suitable for small size weddings. Some spaces have room fees in addition to food charges if certain minimum are not met.

OUTDOOR EVENTS

Jardines Garden Patio

Jardines de San Juan is one of the most enchanting gardens in the area for a garden wedding. Our Spanish colonial style gardens are a landmark that is beautiful, full of life, color, and aroma. An eclectic array of fruit trees, flowers, native and imported plants are pulled together with brick paths and beautiful patios, making for a wonderful place to celebrate your wedding. Although we’re located only a short drive from Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Jose it feels like you’ve entered another era.

The back courtyard is a secluded brick patio, with shading trees, surrounded by flowers and plants. It can hold from 85 up to 250 people for a wedding reception, less if you would like to have your ceremony here as well. For a fall or winter wedding date (anytime between October and May) we can accommodate up to 70 people for your indoor wedding reception. May to October is when we book most of our outdoor-weddings and it is when the weather is most predictable and cooperative.

Adobe Patio

Adjacent to Galleria Tonantzin located in the historic adobe and private on three sides, this semi-enclosed brick patio filled with flowers and colorful umbrellas. This is a cozy space for up to 50 guests. It is sought after for bridal and baby showers, birthday parties, rehearsal dinners and engagement parties.

INDOOR EVENTS

There are two lovely indoor banquet rooms available for special events like rehearsal dinners and engagement parties.

The Private Dining Room

Our small banquet room in the new section of our restaurant is available for banquets or special events. It is perfect for intimate parties and rehearsal dinners and can hold 15 to 24 guests. This room is also available to book as a bridal dressing area. It has shutters for privacy and filtered light, direct street entrance for privacy, Mexican tin chandeliers and close proximity to restrooms and ample mirrors for getting bride and brides-maids ready and can be an ideal setting for beautiful “getting ready” photos. After getting dressed you can leisurely walk around the corner for your grand entrance as a bride.

The Theater

Our larger indoor event area is located in what was our original dining room (nicknamed the Theater) and we are now using it for private parties. This separate building has a lot of character; it has old world charm that has been nicely kept up over the years.

It used to be a movie theater many years ago, and then later it was used by El Teatro Campesino for melodrama plays. “The Theater” as we call it here, has a beautiful view of our gardens, open beam ceilings and a quaint feel.

When dressed up for holiday parties with a tree and poinsettias it can be the perfect holiday party setting or even a winter wedding location. The Theater is available for winter weddings and year round events and can accommodate 24 to 70 guests.

Melted Monterey Jack cheese, diced onions, tomatoes and black olives inside a folded flour tortilla, heated slightly crispy and cut into bite size triangles.
Flautitas
